Doris Kirschner,is a well known soprano and voice teacher in the Chicago area. She made vocal chamber music one of her specialties, having been a founding member of The Chicago Ensemble. She formerly sang with the Chicago Symphony Chorus and was a soloist on several occasions with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, singing under the baton of James Levine at Ravinia and Georg Solti at Orchestra Hall. She was a cantorial soloist for 8 years in temples in Oak park and Buffalo Grove. A native of Kentucky, she began her musical studies at the Cincinnati- College Conservatory, beginning piano studies at the age of 6 years. Currently, she is soloist at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodlawn, teaches voice, is a voice therapist and a speech therapist. Her students have been participants and winners in numerous workshops and contests as well as winning lead roles in community, college, and high school concerts and theatre productions.

The next Fourth Monday Recital, the Gala Concert with various performers from MTHP, will take place on November 24, 2008, 7:30 PM at Blackstone Library. .
