Irene Claude
Flutist, Irene Claude is a member of the Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with many Chicago area ensembles, including Ars Viva, Chicago Sinfonietta, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Philharmonic, Music of the Baroque, and Northwest Indiana Symphony. She has taught on the faculty of the DePaul University Community Music School, Music Institute of Chicago, and the Suzuki-Orff School as flute instructor and flute choir director. Irene maintains a private flute studio in Hyde Park, coaches chamber music for Music Teachers of Hyde Park Summer Ensemble Fest, and directs the flute choir for the Sherwood Conservatory Summer Flute Institute. She has adjudicated for the Sherwood Conservatory Festival of Flutes and the Chicago Flute Club Annual Student Competition. As a recitalist, she has presented an annual recital on the Music Teachers of Hyde Park Fourth Monday Recital Series at the Blackstone Library. Irene is also a certified Music Together teacher for Marsha's Music Together, and director of the St. Nicholas Children's Choir at St. Paul and the Redeemer, both in Hyde Park.Irene Claude has a M.M. from DePaul University, and a B.M.A. from the University of Michigan. Her teachers include Keith Bryan, Judith Bentley, Lyon Leifer, Kazimierz Moszynski, and Mary Stolper. She has also performed in master classes with William Bennett, Leone Buyse, Walfrid Kujala, Emmanuel Pahud, Donald Peck, and Trevor Wye. Irene has completed Suzuki pedagogy studies with Pandora Bryce, David Gerry, and Toshio Takahashi. She is a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians, Chicago Flute Club, Music Teachers of Hyde Park, National Flute Association, and Suzuki Association of the Americas.
